چکیده

Options for cardiac device implantation in patients with central venous obstruction are limited. We describe a novel method of device implantation of an entirely endocardial biventricular defibrillator system using video thoracoscopy in a patient with superior vena cava obstruction. Direct right atrial access wasused for all leads andan endocardial left ventricular lead wasdeliveredvia atrial transseptal puncture.

Right-sided implantation of a cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator in a case of persistent left superior vena cava.

Persistent left superior vena cava represents a congenital venous anomaly that poses a particular obstacle to the implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices. In the present report we briefly describe the rightsided implantation of a biventricular defibrillator in a patient with persistent left superior vena cava. We also briefly discuss the technically challenging procedures applied in s...

Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Device Implantation: Clinical and Long-Term Data

BACKGROUND Persistent left superior vena cava (LSVC) is a rare congenital venous anomaly that may be found at the time of cardiac device lead insertion. METHODS In this case series, we present clinical and long-term data of five patients with LSVC who underwent pacemaker (PM) or cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation during the period of 10 years. RESULTS Left-sided venous approach w...

Implantation via the femoral vein of a biventricular defibrillator with transseptal endocardial left ventricular pacing.

Rev Esp Cardiol. 2009;62(12):1498-508 1503 resynchronisation. An electrode was placed in the only anterior branch of the coronary sinus (CS) that could be identified, and showed a delay of 40 ms compared with the right ventricular electrogram. The patient’s condition continued to deteriorate (NYHA stage IV; EF 28%) and we opted for implanting an AICD with a new access for resynchronisation. Aft...

Implantation of a Resynchronization Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator in a Patient with Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava

Implantation of resynchronization implantable cardioverter defibrillator was performed in a patient with persistent left superior vena cava. A dual coil defibrillation lead was inserted in the right ventricle apex via a small innominate vein. Left ventricular and atrial leads were implanted through persistent left superior vena cava. Left ventricular lead was easily implanted into the postero l...

Superior Vena Cava Syndrome due to Thrombosis: A Rare Paraneoplastic Presentation of Bronchogenic Carcinoma

Superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome is not an uncommon occurrence in patients with malignancy and it is often described as a medical emergency. In majority of the cases, SVC syndrome occurs due to mechanical obstruction of the SVC by extraluminal compression with primary intrathoracic malignancies. However, intraluminal obstruction due to thrombosis can also produce symptoms and signs of SVC synd...
